What the work is actually like

Field and policy in the same week
Programme staff move between rural wards, state ministries and federal MDAs. The work requires people who can hold a conversation with a herd owner and a permanent secretary.

A flat, consultant-led model
Most technical delivery runs through named specialists with real autonomy over their scope. There is very little management layer between you and the outcome.

Where we are building capacity.
These are standing areas of recruitment. Specific engagements are scoped as programmes are confirmed. Expressions of interest are held on file and matched as roles open.
Registered veterinarians and animal health professionals supporting disease surveillance, vaccination campaign design, rapid diagnostic protocols and community animal health worker training.
We look for
- DVM or equivalent, registered with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria or a recognised national body
- Field experience in outbreak investigation, ideally with FMD, PPR or ASF
- Comfort with mobile data capture and digital reporting protocols
- Working knowledge of at least one language widely spoken in Nigeria's livestock belt
Engagement type
Consultancy, retained or assignment-based, with field deployment across programme states.
Engineers and analysts building the Livestock Information Management System, surveillance dashboards and predictive analytics tooling that underpin our technical capabilities.
We look for
- Backend or full-stack engineering experience with data-intensive applications
- Geospatial skills (PostGIS, QGIS or equivalent) and experience with offline-first field data capture
- Analysts with strong statistics and a track record of turning messy field data into decision-grade output
- Familiarity with health or agriculture information systems is an advantage
Engagement type
Staff and consultancy roles, Abuja-based or remote with periodic travel.
Practitioners who can convene, negotiate and sustain relationships with Emirate councils, District Heads, pastoralist associations, women's groups and cooperatives.
We look for
- Demonstrated experience working through traditional institutions on health, agriculture or peacebuilding programmes
- Fluency in Hausa, Fulfulde or another regionally dominant language
- Skill in conflict-sensitive programming, particularly around grazing and water access
- Commitment to increasing women's participation in livestock programming
Engagement type
Field-based roles attached to specific programme geographies.
Researchers designing applied and participatory studies on animal health, genetics, feed systems, climate adaptation and indigenous practice, plus M&E specialists building measurement into programmes from baseline onwards.
We look for
- Postgraduate qualification in veterinary epidemiology, agricultural economics, public health or a related field
- Publication record or substantial grey-literature output in African livestock or One Health contexts
- Participatory research methods and experience working with pastoralist communities
- For M&E: theory-of-change design, indicator development and government-embedded reporting systems
Programme managers to run donor-funded and government-partnered delivery, and partnership leads to develop public-private and multilateral relationships.
We look for
- Track record managing donor-funded programmes to budget, workplan and reporting standard
- Experience working inside or alongside Nigerian federal or state MDAs
- Proposal development and institutional fundraising capability
- Strong written English and the ability to produce technical documents unsupervised
We host volunteers and early-career associates, particularly veterinary students, agricultural science graduates, data analysts and communications practitioners at the start of their careers.
What volunteering involves
- Supporting field data collection and verification during campaigns and surveys
- Contributing to knowledge products, training materials and community radio content
- Assisting with training session logistics and participant follow-up
